Social Anxiety Treatment – Discover How I Stopped My Anxiety Attacks In Their Tracks

November 8th, 2009

If you’ve read any of the other posts on this page you’ll know I used to suffer badly and was desperate to find a treatment for social anxiety. You’ll also probably realise that I did eventually find a cure. Best of all it doesn’t include any drugs at all, so no nasty side effects.

I crashed my motorcycle and woke up with a crowd round me. This turned out to be my panic attack trigger. If I got anywhere near a crowd I started to get anxious and it built and built until I just had to run. Took over my life, I can tell ya!

I must have tried almost everything to stop my anxiety attacks but nothing much had any effect. In fact some of the crap I was given had some scary side effects. I was once offered anti depression drugs and on the packet it said “may cause depression”, what’s that all about? Needles to say I never even tried them.

I did actually realise that these panic episodes were all in my mind. And I knew that the eventual cure wouldn’t come from drugs, I knew I would have to “man up” and conquer them myself.

Well that’s easier said than done. If you’ve ever had an anxiety attack or some sort of social anxiety disorder you’ll know what I mean. Yes we realise it’s a mental thing but try telling your brain that when everything around you has suddenly gone nuclear.

If a drug free anxiety disorder treatment is something that appeals to you then you should check out this website, it can teach you a method to use every time you feel an attack looming.

I found that my ‘trigger’ was being in a crowd, and when I say crowd, four or five people did it for me. It was hell, I must have looked like a right tool but all I wanted was to escape (what I thought was) impending death.

If you are as desperate as me to find a cure for your anxiety disorder then you have a couple of choices. You can keep seeing your doctor and go through the merry go round of prescription drugs (and the side effects) or you can make the decision to help yourself and teach yourself how to cure this anxiety disorder for good.

It’s your choice!

Social Anxiety Treatment – Without Drugs – Is It Possible?

October 21st, 2009

If you are a social anxiety sufferer and you’ve been prescribed any of the dozens of available drugs I’m sure you’ve either read about, or experienced first hand some of the side effects.

Nearly all of the drugs prescribed for social anxiety treatment (I’m including panic attacks and anxiety attacks as they are all much the same) will not cure the problem.

That’s right, they will not cure the problem. They merely mask or lessen the symptoms. Now, if you’ve had a panic attack while taking (say) Beta Blockers you’ll realise what a waste of time the mediation really is.

I was once prescribed Beta Blockers for my anxiety attacks and I stupidly expected them to stop the attacks from starting. They didn’t, they just kept my heart beating at a nice slow pace while the rest of me was going berserk.

Having a panic attack but at the same time having a calm heart rate is not a nice experience I can tell you. Almost as bad as having the panic attacks anyway.

Needles to say I threw the drugs straight in the trash. Knowing I was more or less on my own with my anxiety problem I decided to research natural cures, if possible.

There were many types of cures to be found but they ranged from the absolute useless to the downright strange.

I tried breathing exercises and hypnosis (not cheap!) but neither had any real effect on my anxiety attacks.

I continued searching and researching and nothing seemed to work for me. I almost gave up hope that I’d get these things under control one day.

My problem started after a motorcycle accident. I lost control of my motorcycle one day while riding home from work. I slid into oncoming traffic (ouch!) and woke up with a crowd around me.

At that point I actually felt fine, in no pain and all I wanted was to get up and get my bike and get on home. Little did I realise that I’d smashed my wrist to almost dust.

Anyway, to cut a long story short I started to get hot and bothered when I was near to a crowd of people. Didn’t even need to be a crowd, three or four would do it.

These anxiety attacks escalated over time until I was literally running from the scene panicking. A strange sight indeed.

So to cut another story short I recently attended a football game. Thousands of people around me for a few hours. And I was under total control the whole time. No drugs, just me and a few tricks to keep the panic attack at bay.

So to answer the title of this post, “social anxiety treatment – without drugs – is it possible?”

You betcha!

Panic & Anxiety Attack Cure – The All Natural, No Medication Way!

October 23rd, 2009

If you’ve read any of the other stuff on this site you’ll know that I used to suffer bad panic attacks. You’ll also know that I tried to stop them with medication only to end up just as bad if not worse.

Well, you may also be glad to know that I eventually got my panic attacks under control using all natural methods, no drugs at all.

Here are a few things to be aware of about panic & anxiety disorders and treatments.

Are panic attacks the same as social anxiety disorder?

Yes, more or less. The medical profession tends to group together panic attacks, anxiety attacks, social anxiety disorder and other names.

The fact is they all boil down to being the same thing really. You may have a few different symptoms and causes but at the end of the day you are still suffering some form of irrational stressful episode.

Which is the same as saying you are having a panic attack, or an anxiety attack or even a social anxiety disorder attack.

Can a drug free treatment for panic & anxiety attacks be used on children and the elderly?

Most definitely. In fact if my child or elderly parent were suffering the same as I was I’d be very reluctant to give them some of the drugs that get prescribed for these anxiety problems.

In my opinion a drug free treatment is far more desirable than risking the side effects that come with some of these drugs.

What type of drugs do get prescribed for anxiety & panic attacks?

There are many different names from a handful of drug groups but you must realise that none of them are a cure for panic attacks.

They will treat the symptoms to lessen the anxiety you are feeling but they are not a cure. In fact these drugs are not designed to be given to you for prolonged periods so once your doctor decides you need to stop taking them you are back to square one.

Imagine having six months or so of relative calm if you found a drug that works. Only to then realise that on such and such a date you are going to be back in the full grip of your anxiety attacks.

I’ve been there and it’s not a nice thought.

Some of the types of drugs that can be given out are Beta Blockers. These work by stopping your heart racing. But they come with a whole host of side effects.

Anti-depressants are another popular choice by the medical profession for panic and anxiety disorders. One recent episode with an anti-depressant drug was giving users a side effect where they were having suicidal tendencies.

Given the risks of taking any type of drug, let alone one that won’t cure your anxiety, I would go for the natural methods every time.

I only wish I hadn’t spent nearly two years testing various cocktails of drugs.
